About the Tour
Alps are world-famous and need no introduction. Long ago an insurmountable barrier, nowadays this mighty range is crossed by modern railway and road tunnels that connect Italy to the Central European countries and keep most of the traffic out of the mountain roads. Good for us!
The beautiful valleys surrounded by the highest mountains and dotted with enchanting villages are a joy for the eyes and provide impeccable charming hotels, great food, and excellent wines.
We will ride a long series of extremely amazing French passes, including the Iseran with its 2770 m (9088 ft). This is a riding experience that you will never forget.
Schedule
Note: The schedule and destinations may vary from tour date to tour date due to incremental tour enhancements or scheduling adjustments.
- Day 0: Welcome to Milan! The town deserve a visit before the tour starts. Meet new friends at the Meet & Greet followed by the Welcome Dinner
- Day 1: After collecting the bikes, a fast leg southbound leads us to the Ligurian Apennines, here we start savouring some mountain ride. Overnight in the very attractive town of Cuneo.
- Day 2: We drive west toward the Alps and we cross the first of a long series of passes, the Col de la Lombarde at 2351 m (7713 ft.), then a series of mountain roads leads us to the enchanting little village of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie.
- Day 3: The whole day is dedicated to the beautiful Natural Regional Park of Verdon, famous for the Verdon Gorge, the biggest river canyon of continental Europe. Overnight in the same hotel in Moustiers-Sainte-Marie.
- Day 4: We head north along the French Alps to the Col de la Bonnette, the highest asphalted road in the Alps at 2802 m (9193 ft.), with a superb view all around. We then climb the Col de Vars and the Izoard pass at 2360 m (7743 ft.), to reach the severe town of Briançon, protected by its mighty fortresses.
- Day 5: Rest day to enjoy the town, or a loop tour towards Italy across the Montgenèvre Pass.
- Day 6: We ride northbound again towards the most amazing french passes: Lautaret, Galibier, Telegraph, Iseran, the highest alpine pass at 2770 m (9088 ft.), and Little St. Bernard, to reach the beautiful town of Aosta in Italy.
- Day 7: A nice, more relaxed ride along the Lake Orta and Lake Maggiore leads us back to Milan, where we drop the bikes and enjoy our Farewell Dinner.
- Day 8: Depart Milan for home or another adventure, until we meet again!
- Morning departures are typically 9:00 or as advised
- Afternoon arrivals normally leave time to relax before dinner
