FAQ

Here is a list of the most frequently asked questions.

More information regarding each single tour will be available after booking.

Airport Transfers

Are airport hotel transfers included in your tours?

In general, the initial transfer from the airport to the hotel is included in the tour price, while the depart transfer to the airport may not be included. This happens because a taxi is easy to call from the reception, and it is cheaper than a limo. Please refer to the “What is Included” section of each tour.

If I arrive before the tour start date and I stay in a different hotel, is the airport-hotel transfer included anyway?

If the airport hotel transfer is included in your tour, yes, provided that your hotel is in the same town where the tour starts. Please refer to the “What is Included” section of each tour.

If I arrive by train or car, is the transfer to the hotel included?

Yes, it is.

In Italy, limo transfers in town are not allowed. In that case, just take a taxi or use the Uber app. Your Tour Leader your receipt will reimburse it in cash.

Booking

If I need to cancel my booking, do I lose my money?

In general, you don’t. We will only charge eventual non-refundable expenses that we have to pay after your booking. This may happen if the cancellation occurs close to the start date of the tour. Besides that, if you cancel a reservation:

In case of temporary issue, we will hold the amount paid as a retainer for any other available event.

In case of permanent issue, we will refund the amount paid.

If I wish to arrive a few days before the tour or depart a few days later, will Blue Strada take care of booking the extra nights?

We do not book hotel rooms for extra nights, but we give you all the contact info to do it easily by yourself. The hotel booking office may request a credit card number to confirm the booking.

Can I rent your Miatas? Do you offer self-guided tours?

No. The only way to drive our cars is to join our guided driving tours.

I am very big. Can I fit into a Miata?

Miatas are little sports cars, therefore big boys may face some problems, especially with the oldest series.

The NA and NB series have no adjustable steering wheel. These series can be driven by people up to approx. 1,90 m (6’3”).

The NC series is way better, because the seat and the steering wheel are adjustable in height, and there is more room in general.

The ND series offers the same room of the NB but is equipped with adjustable steering, allowing taller people to fit in.

So far, all our customers have been able to drive all Miata series.

Are your Miatas left-hand drive?

Yes, all our cars are left-hand drive.

Can I request a specific Miata?

In all our tours, all participants swap cars every day, to test all the different versions. Therefore, you cannot request a specific Miata.

Do your Miatas have ABS?

Our cars are equipped with ABS brakes, except for the 1991 NA and one of our NBs.

Do your Miatas have traction control?

All our NC and ND Miatas are equipped with traction control, as well as our Abarth 124 Spider and Mercedes SLK. Nonetheless, Miata engines are not too powerful and allow good and safe control even on wet roads.

Do your Miatas have A/C?

Yes, all our cars are equipped with working A/C.

Clothing

What weather should I expect?

Our tours usually take place in moderate temperature periods; therefore, you will never need winter gear. However, we suggest you be prepared for eventual occasional cool or rainy days.

Mountain tours (Alps, Pyrenees) usually present different weather conditions, that can range from hot (around 35°C – 95° C) in the starting town to cool (around 10° C – 50° F) on the higher passes. This applies to the Motorcycle Morocco Tour too, including temperatures.

Our Jeep Moab Tour takes place in the warm season; anyway, all vehicles and hotels are equipped with A/C.

What kind of shoes should I wear?

Our tours always include some walking visits. In Europe, this often happens in villages with cobblestones or uneven pavements. Therefore, we recommend you wear comfortable walking shoes.

Electric Devices

Do I need a plug adapter/converter?

Europe and USA have their own voltage and sockets, different from those in use in other countries like UK and Australia.

Most USB devices work with 110-120V and 220-240V.

Laptops, hair driers, curling irons, and other non-USB devices can be dual voltage or not, please check them before packing. NEVER USE 120V DEVICES IN EUROPE.

Europe and Morocco. Voltage in Europe and Morocco is 220-240V AC @ 50 Hz. Europeans do not have a common standard for electric sockets, but adapters with the 2-prong plug (Type C, see image below) work in all continental Europe and Morocco, no matter what the local standard is.

USA. Voltage in USA is 110-120V AC @ 60Hz. All hotels use the standard 3-prong plug (Type B).

Can I charge my smartphone in your Miatas?

All our cars are equipped with a cigarette lighter socket (in ND and Abarth 124 models it is in the passenger footwell). Some of them also have a USB-A port. We don’t supply connecting cables or adapters.

Yes, all our Miatas have a GoPro mount located between the trunk lid and the seats, that allows you to take videos forward and backward. Feel free to use your suction cup mounts, but please do not stick self-adhesive mounts.

Health & Health Insurance

Even if health care is free or nearly free in most European countries, we always recommend purchasing travel insurance, because it can be helpful and normally offers extra services that are not covered by the local health systems. More information on this matter will be supplied after the booking.

How fit should I be to participate in your tours?

Our tours are for motor enthusiasts. Nevertheless, they usually include short walking visits to villages that can have steep slopes and uneven pavements. What if I have food allergies or intolerances or dietary needs?

Our booking form allows you to declare your needs, and we will take care of it.

Please consider the following important tips.

  • Before booking a tour or leaving your country, please tell your bank that you are going to travel, otherwise they will likely refuse your card payments for security reasons.
  • In some countries like Italy, many gas stations accept only cards with a Personal Identification Number (PIN). In all Blue Strada tours, gas is included, but you could have a problem if you plan to rent a car before or after the tour. Plan to use cash instead.
Do I need a credit/debit card?

Yes, you need a VISA or Mastercard, because Blue Strada (or the motorcycle rental company) will hold a € 2000,00 security deposit for the car use, that will be charged only to cover any eventual damage.

Even if most shops accept credit and debit cards. However, some local currency will be useful for tips and little personal expenses – snacks etc. A good guess is around 30-50 Euro/dollar per day per person. You can easily withdraw local currency at ATMs using your credit/debit card.

Some useful tips below:

  • Ask your bank for the best conversion ratios
  • When abroad, use only official ATMs located inside or besides bank agencies. Those stand-alone located along the sidewalk or in shops are usually very expensive.

  • Waiters. 5-10% is appreciated.

  • Hotel housekeepers and luggage attendants. 1-2 Euros.
